Continuing the Tradition II : A Celebration of Native American Art

The West Nebraska Arts Center, with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, Bob & Sue Van Newkirk, Masid Chevrolet Co., and MarketPlace & Company is pleased to present Continuing the Tradition II: A Celebration of Native American Art by Native American artists of South Dakota and Nebraska. It will be presented Thursday, April 29th. Featured art includes ledger art, handcrafted jewelry, bead work on authentic leather, pastels and more. Come to the reception and have an opportunity to meet the artists. “We've also invited Prairie Edge from Rapid City, a retail store specializing in Native American products, to showcase some of the different types of traditional work they carry. All in all, I think it's going to be a fantastic representation of traditional and contemporary Native American art. This is a must – see show. A bonus is that some of the artists plan on being here for the April 29th, opening reception so you'll have an opportunity to meet and visit with them!” says artist and WNAC board member Mary B Hunt. “We will be going to pick up the artwork from South Dakota and its always great to see this spectacular array of artwork. We are extremely thrilled to be having this show again. It is an awesome way to bring culture and celebration into the Arts Center. This is definitely a show that you will not want to miss. This talent and tradition is breathtaking.” says Executive Director, Michele Denton. Everyone is invited to the gallery for Continuing the Tradition II: A Celebration of Native American Art. The reception is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. The gallery exhibit and reception is free and open to the public and will be on display April 29th – May 30th 2021.
