The West Nebraska Arts Center with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment is pleased to announce a call for artists for Artfully Undead: an exhibition of art inspired by Día de los Muertos, which opens Thursday, September 29th, 2016, with a reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and will continue in the Bronson Gallery through October 30th, 2016. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome. Artfully Undead is an open exhibit, meaning we will include as much artwork as our gallery space is able to accommodate, with a limit of 2 entries per artist.
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Hispanic and Latino holiday that is celebrated around the world. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to remember and celebrate the lives of loved who have passed on. WNAC is seeking artwork inspired by this theme. Inspiration might come from the cheerful colors associated with the holiday, memories of friends and family who have passed away, or perhaps by Mexican artists such as printmaker Guadalupe Posada.
Open to artists 18 and over, artists must be able to deliver their artwork and completed entry form to West Nebraska Arts Center September 20-25, 2016.
The West Nebraska Arts Center is a cultural non-profit organization committed to education, awareness and excellence in the arts, serving the North Platte Valley Region.
The Nebraska Arts Council, a state agency, has supported this program through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
