The Monument Valley Iris Society has scheduled their annual spring iris show. The show is scheduled for the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extenstion Center a mile north of Scottsbluff on Highway 71.
The society is hoping it will be the best bloom week for the iris though every year varies. The iris show is an AIS Region 21 sanctioned event and is free of charge and open to the public.
Monument Valley Iris Society members will provide most of the exhibits; however the show is open to any iris grower in the region. There is no charge to exhibit and non-club members are welcome to participate. Entries are due at the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4.
The show will feature both horticultural and artistic divisions. The iris show will also include an open photographic division as well as artistic arrangements.
Judging will be conducted between 10:00 a.m. and noon on Saturday and the show will be open to public viewing at 1:00 p.m. Public viewing is encouraged on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Monument Valley Iris Society will also have iris for sale at the show. Flowers were donated and the sales will serve as a club fundraiser. Many of the iris for sale can be viewed at the show or in the display garden and purchased for late summer delivery.
Show catalogs are available by contacting show co-chairs.
