After many months of communication with Netflix, Billy Estes finally received the much anticipated approval to hold a premier showing of the Coen Brothers movie filmed partially in the beautiful rolling hills of western Nebraska.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is set to be released on Netflix this Friday, November 16th but the ability to view the film on the big screen has been made possible by the persistence and determination of Estes, who made numerous phone calls and sent several e-mails to his connections at Netflix.
The filming of the movie in western Nebraska brought in close to $1 million to the local economy in the fall of 2017 and gave many local residents the opportunity to experience the making of a professional and world-class film operation.
On Friday, November 16th, the Midwest Theater along with the Nebraska Film Commission would like to invite any cast members or vendors who were involved with the movie locally to the theater for nibbles provided by The Emporium & The Tangled Tumbleweed and a cash bar from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. Doors for the general public will open at 6:45 p.m. The Film will start at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a showing of the movie on Saturday, November 17th at 7:30 p.m.
Movie Synopsis: The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a six-part Western anthology film, a series of tales about the American frontier told through the unique and incomparable voice of Joel and Ethan Coen. Each chapter tells a distinct story about the American West.
