Rhys Thomas teaches Newtonian physics using a rare blend of science, comedy and circus arts. Families learn surprising things about gravity through bowling ball juggling, gyroscopic stability through glass bowl spinning, centripetal force with cowboy lariats, center of balance with a six-foot tall unicycle and inertia with the old tablecloth pull. Add the irresistible force of levity to even more tricks and you've got a rough idea of what the Science Circus is all about. Currently an Oregon Museum of Science and Industry outreach program, the Science Circus has toured hundreds of schools in a dozen US states. Rhys' "edutainment" shows have been presented at national and international conferences, on worldwide television, and as opening act of the first Oregon Innovators in Education Conference. Rhys is the only juggler to have been awarded an Oregon Arts Fellowship.
