Western Nebraska Regional Airport will be holding an event to honor all that rural airports do for communities. Families and aviation enthusiasts alike can come out and tour the airport and see some unique aircraft. Planes will be parked out in the runway area and the community will be able to see a Boeing KC-135 amd a helicopter from the National Guard base in Cheyenne. Children age 8 to 17 can ride in a plane for free. Smith expects some children to show up at 7:30 am so they are able to get a plane ride. The Scottsbluff Police Department will also bring out an explosive ordinance disposal robot and there will be some businesses who will be on display at the airport.
